Chives belong to the Look family and therefore is related to the cultivation of onions, leeks, and garlic as such. The vegetation originates from Europe and Northern Asia. Chives grow in june-july and in Holland and Belgium chives still grow in wild. This kind of species take care for a nutrition stock in the ground which is able to survive winter. Due to this, in spring chives can bloom and produce seed fast.
Tarragon has a bitter, pepper-like, aniseed palate. This is mainly known from sauces like bearnaise, but is also used in vinaigrettes and mustard. The flowers and leafs can be used for making tea which improves the kidney function.
